Welcome to the Friends of Fellsmere Heights Annual Meeting 2024 page! Here you will find the site, directions, information about parking, and information about who can vote.
The Site: We are meeting at Pine Banks Park on the Malden/Melrose line, in picnic area B4 - the same space as last year. This is right inside the gate with the little stone house (see the map linked here).
Parking: There are several parking areas marked on the map. However, there are several other events happening at the Park -- ball games, birthday parties, and so on -- and the parking area closest to the site is small and will fill up quickly. Other options, based on closeness to the site, include:
- The parking area just inside the main gate, at the second traffic light from the stone house entrance driving from Malden towards Melrose. From here, you can pass from the parking lot to the path that leads over the hill, past the pond and down to the meeting site.
- The parking area closest to the playground. To get here, you can go in either entrance. From the stone house entrance, drive past the picnic site and the playground pathway, and the parking area entrance will be on your right just before the road becomes a two-way road. From the main gate, drive past all the ballfields and the field house, and the parking area entrance will be on your left, just before the ONE WAY DO NOT ENTER sign. In both cases, turn left as you leave the parking area and walk around towards the stone house. You will see the meeting site on your right before you get to the stone house itself.
- The other parking areas, which are a farther walk and are likely to fill up with baseball and soccer game attendees. If you choose one of these, your best choice is to get to the field house (marked with a restroom on the map) and turn left. Then, follow the directions as if you were coming from the lot closest to the playground.
If there are unoccupied spaces at Hunt's Photo and Video across the street from the Park, you can cross Main Street at the light and almost immediately enter the path with the closed gate on Main Street. But this risks a ticket, and we do not advise this.
We will provide a light lunch, with water and soda. A vegan option will be available. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted at the Park, so please don't bring anything of that kind.
Also, pleased be advised that we are limited to 25 attendees at this site. Those qualified to vote are being invited first. After 5 days, we will invite all our supporters. Voters are those who contribute financially (in cash or in kind) in the previous calendar year (2023), and also attend or assist at an event we sponsor or where we have a table.
